Speech Language Pathologist Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communication disorders, including speech, language, and social communication difficulties.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, considering the student's age, abilities, and educational goals.
  • Provide direct therapy services using evidence-based techniques to improve communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure coordinated intervention and support.
  • Monitor and document student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate and train teachers and support staff on effective communication strategies.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide recommendations for students with communication disorders.
  • Stay up to date with research and advancements in speech-language pathology and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and related documentation.
  • Advocate for students with communication disorders and promote awareness within the school community.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and maintain ethical and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state license or certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of communication disorders, assessment tools, and evidence-based intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple caseloads and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in technology and software applications relevant to speech-language pathology.
