About the Role
A hotel with approximately 100 guest rooms has recently completed a new ballroom and is seeking an experienced Event Sales Manager to build the event business around it.
This is a business-development role for someone who can create demand, develop relationships with planners and organizations, identify opportunities, and convert them into booked events. You will own the sales process from prospecting and initial inquiry through meetings, site visits, proposals and closing.
The opportunity is to take a newly developed event space and build it into a meaningful, repeatable revenue stream.
Responsibilities
Build the ballroom event business through proactive prospecting, referrals, partnerships and local market development.
Develop relationships with event planners, businesses, organizations and other sources of repeat and referral business.
Own qualified opportunities from initial contact through meetings, site visits, proposals, follow-up and confirmed booking.
Respond to inbound event inquiries and maintain strong follow-through to maximize conversion.
Identify the event segments and opportunities that are the strongest fit for the property.
Partner with hotel operations to develop attractive, profitable event packages while maintaining clear visibility into pipeline, bookings and results.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience generating event, venue, hospitality or related sales.
Demonstrated ability to proactively develop new business.
Strong relationship-building and networking capabilities.
Track record of converting opportunities into revenue.
Strong organization, responsiveness and follow-through.
Comfortable being accountable for measurable sales results.
Success
Success will be measured by the quality of the event pipeline created, revenue booked, ballroom utilization, conversion of qualified opportunities, and development of repeat and referral business.
The initial objective is to establish meaningful market traction within the first 3–6 months and build a sustainable event revenue stream around the ballroom.
