Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurement-based estimating. The role involves developing conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates, preparing cost plans, budgets, and feasibility studies for large-scale projects, and analyzing drawings, specifications, and design documents to generate accurate pricing. The Estimator will collaborate with design teams, clients, and project stakeholders to provide cost advice and value engineering options while maintaining the project intent. You will evaluate market conditions, labor/material trends, and contribute to benchmarking and cost database development. This role also requires support for client presentations and reporting deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurement-based estimating.
  • Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare cost plans, budgets, and feasibility studies for large-scale projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and design documents to generate accurate pricing.
  • Collaborate with design teams, clients, and project stakeholders throughout all phases.
  • Provide cost advice and value engineering options while maintaining project intent.
  • Evaluate market conditions, labor/material trends, and escalation.
  • Contribute to benchmarking and cost database development.
  • Support client presentations and reporting deliverables.

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as an estimator.
  • Experience in civil, architectural, facade, exterior, and roofing.
  • Strong background in measurement and take-offs.
  • Technical foundation in measurement.
  • Experience in a consultant or GC preconstruction team with real estimating exposure.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Experience working on large, complex construction projects.
  • Exposure to full lifecycle estimating from concept through understanding of construction methods and cost drivers across trades.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on estimating experience.
  • Ability to independently perform quantity take-offs and trade-level estimates.
  • Experience supporting senior team members on large projects.
  • Eagerness to grow into client-facing responsibilities.
  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – a strong plus.
  • Experience with international cost consultancy standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in CostX, Bluebeam, or similar tools, and Excel-based cost modeling.

Work Environment

The position follows an office work schedule with four days in the office and one day remote. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, large-scale projects in NYC within a collaborative, consultant-led environment that emphasizes technical excellence and true cost planning.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
