JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Shaw Systems is a national software development company that has an established record of solid financial performance and an excellent reputation for providing quality products. We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Azure Administrator II to play a critical role in supporting our company’s Azure Cloud environments.

Responsibilities


  • Support and enhance Shaw’s current Azure cloud environments

  • Monitor and enhance the security of Shaw’s Azure environments

  • Evaluate and automate the scaling and capacity requirements within Shaw’s Azure environments

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Azure environment performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.

  • Work with DevOps to integrate the Azure infrastructure into Shaw’s CI/CD process and procedures

  • Support hosted and licensed clients running Shaw's flagship Java-based application, Spectrum

  • Manage and maintain availability through Azure Site Recovery procedures and processes

  • Manage and maintain Job Schedulers that perform critical daily and nightly functions for Shaw clients

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements


  • 5+ years' experience in system administration

  • 5+ years' experience with Virtualization

  • 5+ years' experience with Networking

  • 5+ years’ strong experience in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Microsoft Azure solutions, including major services related to Compute, Storage, Network and Security

  • 5+ years’ Experience with Azure AD, Active Directory including managing/maintaining multiple domains

  • Demonstrated experience with Backup, Restore, Recovery and high availability strategies for Microsoft Azure environments

  • Experience in setting up, implementing, proactively monitoring and troubleshooting Azure environments

  • Experience in implementing Azure Key Vaults and Key Rotation

  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot Azure compute and storage across CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resources

  • Strong knowledge of IaaS and PaaS services

  • Strong understanding and background of working with a complex Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, and the requirement of strictly following standards, procedures, and processes

  • Knowledge of Network and TCP/IP routing/subnetting

  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems

  • Windows Server creation, configuration, upgrade, migration, and patching

  • Working knowledge of VPN connectivity and client trouble shooting

 

Preferred Experience:


  • 2+ years' experience with PowerShell and Bicep

  • Claude AI Experience

  • 2+ years' experience with Azure containerized applications

  • 2+ years’ experience with Fortinet

Education / Certifications


  • Four-year college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is highly desirable.






      • Required Certifications: Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator

      • Preferred: Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies, Identity and Access Administrator Associate



 

Location

 

This position may work from any of the following locations: Hybrid office schedule if within 75 miles of the Houston office. Remote with the ability to travel up to 5% from the following states: Texas if more than 75 miles from the office location, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Utah.

Supervisory Responsibility

 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

 

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 7 am – 4 pm, 8 am – 5 pm or 9 am – 6 pm, and occasional afterhours or weekend work may be required. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.

 

Travel

 

Limited travel (up to 5%) is expected for this position.
